Basically me and my friend finished the first segment of what is to be about a 30 minute short. We took the idea of taking all the generic stuff from movies and cramming it into a comedy/drama short. so here goes more to come.

Nice logo.

Editing pace is unacceptably slack IMO. It already seems like it's 30 minutes long!

I did like the overall idea, I just think it's been poorly executed right now and the pace is just too slow. It got some laughs out of me.

Difficult to comment on the audio production values cos it's YouTube, but the autoexposure hunting was really really distracting and amateurish (don't worry though, cos professionals are just amateurs who didn't give up).

Even most cheapo camcorders have a way of fixing the exposure (usually for backlighting situations), I think you'd do well to find out and use it.

I got the references but I just thought it was purile and lame...Pastiche can be funny but most of the time it doesn't work for me.

The lighting was bad. As soon as I saw that it opened on a suburban house I knew what I was in for.

Work on making the 6 minutes funny, interesting and engaging.

thanks for the help. im sorry you didnt like it nigel but you cant win em all i guess. In retrospect I would have liked to use some more interesting and dynamic camera angles but to be honest, most of this was not scripted. we came up with it on the spot. The original script had him eating spaghetti when the phone rang and that was it, but we decided it would be funnier this way.

I'm no expert at lighting so maybe i could get a few tips?

thanks for the advice miker tho Im not really sure what you mean by exposure, im reallllly new at this ie:this is my first movie since with a tyco video cam at the age of 5.
Also, I think youre right about the editing. I will try to make it more fastpaced.

On the other hand, I'm glad you guys didnt see some of the other mistakes, like the person sitting on the counter in the background or the car parked in the driveway thats gone in the next shot or the dufflebag on the chair.

The exposure doesn't bug me that much to be honest. Maybe it's because I'm american and I've watched to much reality shows, but I don't even notice exposure tracking anymore. That's probably why my work is shit though.

I really hope it wasnt any of you who left that YouTube comment about my brother. Making fun of his bad acting is one thing but that shit was something else

Actually it was me. Well it wasn't me but it was my account. We (used to) have something like 20 kids who have the password to login to our youtube, because we can't quite figure out how to make stuff accesible to only a few, so that we don't spoil the movie before the screening. Sorry about that, I've changed the password, so it won't happen anymore. I also have a few 15 year old kids who's asses I need to beat. I haven't fought a 15 year old since I was 20, lol. Again, Sorry.
